The St. James Art Fair is This Weekend!
This upcoming weekend in Louisville is one of the most coveted art shows in the area: the 57th Annual St. James Court Art Show. From October 4th to October 6th St. James Court will be filled with nearly 800 artists from North America as well as over 300,000 visitors to experience the beauty of the area and the art.
The art show (as well as the St. James Court area) has a very unique and interesting history. The show initially began in 1957 as a means to pay debts and raise funds and over the decades since then it has turned into an annual phenomenon of stellar art. The art show has been voted as the best art show in the nation by the trade journal Sunshine Artist in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
You can see at the top of this post the beautiful poster for this year’s event, which is actually a competition. Every year since 1995 a competition is held to determine the poster for each annual event. This year’s poster in particular highlights The Pink Palace, a historic gem of Old Louisville.
Admission is free and pets aren’t allowed. For a parking map and info on shuttle services click here.
