Great Fall Date Ideas in Louisville

Around this time of the year many start to work more in an effort to save money for the holidays. It can be stressful and daunting to work more than you would like. It’s for that reason that it is so important to find time for your loved ones and wind down. Whether you have been married for 30 years, have been dating for 2 years, or just met a few weeks ago there are a plethora of options here in Louisville, Kentucky.

The River Valley Group has compiled a list of events and things to do in the beautiful fall season in the city. You’ll find that it doesn’t always require a lot of money or time to plan…you can simply show up and enjoy the time spent with your significant other.

*Walking through any park during the months of September and October*

This may be a given and the most obvious idea but you would be surprised how many people pass up on the opportunity. Walking through Iroquois Park or Cherokee Park, for example, while the leaves are changing color is one of the best ways to walk, talk, and spend quality time together. Furthermore, if you’re looking for a place to take photos it’s hard to find a more aesthetically pleasing venue than one of Louisville’s gorgeous parks.

*You’re never too old to check out Louisville’s premier museums and art centers*

Louisville is partly-known for being a city that offers a lot of cultural and artistic options around the city. From the architecture to the museums to even the schools that make up JCPS, the city as a whole is absolutely artistically inclined. With that said there are several options depending on if you want to go see art and observe as opposed to actually being hands-on and making art. If it’s the former check out the Frazier Museum, the Louisville Science Center, and the Slugger Museum (fortunately, they are all located within minutes of each other and can be made into an entire Saturday date). If you are wanting to get hands-on you can take sculpture and painting classes at the Mellwood Art Center, dancing lessons at Bravo! Dance Studio, or even cooking classes at The Cottage on Lexington Road.

*Louisville offers many choices for sporting events in the fall*

University of Louisville athletics and Churchill Downs…these are some of the highlights that you can experience with your loved one on a sure-to-be thrilling date. UofL has scheduled sporting events throughout the year and in the fall you can catch the basketball team at the Yum! Center starting in November or the football team on Saturdays at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Throughout the fall Churchill Downs offers many Friday night ‘Downs-after-Dark’ events.

*Pumpkin picking at nearby Huber’s Farm in Indiana*

While not in Louisville many residents enjoying making the short travel to Starlight, Indiana to go pumpkin picking at Huber’s Farm. With large fields of pumpkins to choose from you surely won’t be disappointed when it comes time to make a delicious pumpkin pie or to create a jack-o-lantern! The River Valley Group went to Huber’s Farm last month to go apple picking and it was amazing!
